Who’s lying? Facebook, Google, or Shopify?
50 sales. 30 sales. 40 sales. Someone’s wrong.
Hey, it’s Patrick.
Does this sound familiar?
Facebook Ads says you got 50 sales.
Google Analytics says it was 30.
Shopify says it was 40.
So… who’s telling the truth? (Hint: it’s a trick question).
If you're looking at three different reports with three different numbers, you don't have a clear picture.
You're operating in a fog, and that’s how you end up scaling the wrong campaigns and killing the ones that are actually working.
It's time to establish a single source of truth.
And no, you don’t need some fancy third party attribution tool.
This is a tactic we actively are rolling out with our clients.
Your Actionable Insight:
Your commerce platform (Shopify, in most cases) is the only report that matters. It’s the only place that sees all the channels and doesn’t have a vested interest in looking good.
This week, I want you to build your own “truth report.” It takes 60 seconds.
In Shopify, go to Analytics > Reports.
Click on “Sales by marketing campaign name.”
Set the date for the last 30 days.
This report shows you the sales attributed to your campaigns based on their UTMs.
It’s the closest you’ll get to the real story. It cuts through all the platform BS.
Important note: If you don't have clean, consistent UTMs on every single ad, you can't get this clarity.
You own this piece of the puzzle.
Demand clean data so you can make smart decisions.

Patrick
