You’re paying to send people to a page they hate
97% of your traffic isn’t ready to buy.
Patrick from TVG again.
Let’s talk about a classic mistake I see even the smartest founders make: sending ice-cold traffic directly to a product page and expecting a sale.
And yes, most of the time we are driving customers directly to a product page or offer page.
But we are running some experiments with our clients.
Here is the hypothesis:
Fun fact: 97% of the people you’re paying to acquire are not ready to buy from you right now.
Forcing them into a “buy now or get lost” decision is the fastest way to set your marketing budget on fire. You need to build a system that captures their interest, not just demands their credit card.
It's time to stop building pages and start building conversion systems.
Your Actionable Insight:
If your conversion rate isn’t where it needs to be, you need to stop asking for the sale upfront.
You need to earn their trust with a lead capture layer.
This week, run an experiment. Send half your traffic not to your product page, but to a simple quiz that helps them choose the right product.
Seriously, a 3-question quiz:
Problem: “What’s the biggest pain in the ass you have with [Your Product Category]?”
Context: “How often are you dealing with this problem?”
Goal: “What does the perfect solution look like for you?”
Then, ask for their email to send them their “personalized” recommendation.
Boom. You just turned a wasted click into a high-intent lead you can now talk to via email, where they’re 5-10x more likely to convert.
Stop wasting clicks. Start building a real audience.
Talk soon, Patrick
